Mac Setup Instructions

Step 1: Install SevenLances MPQ version.
Download the MPQ-only version from here. If you need the DLL's they're here (let me know if they're needed).
Extract it into a subfolder of your Diablo 2 folder
Download this and replace the old one.

Step 2: Back up your Diablo II Patch file
I suggest backing it up by renaming it "Diablo II Patch D2X"
* NOTE that this will temporarily break compatibility with battle.net

Step 3: Copy the 7L mpq "patch_d2.mpq" to your Diablo 2 folder and rename it to "Diablo II Patch"

Step 4: Find your "preferences" file. I found mine located under System Folder -> Preferences -> Diablo II Preferences.
Back it up by performing a "duplicate" option. This will buffer you against errors.

Step 5: Obtain a Hex Editor
I suggest downloading a nice utility like HexEdit
From that, navigate to "Download", and then HexEdit_185.sit, and then click on the document icon underneath "Download" for one of the servers
Unpack the Hex Editor.

Step 6: Hex editing your preference file
Open Hex Edit or your other hex editor. Open your diablo 2 preference file. To do this in Hex Edit, open the file menu and choose "open...". Navigate to your Mac HD, and under System Folder -> Preferences, select Diablo II Preferences.
Once the file is open you will see a whole bunch of periods and zeros. Select Find->Find... and enter "asia.battle", select "ASCII Search" and don't tick off "case sensitive". It should bring you to an isolated block of text with all the battle.net servers listed. Hit MacKey-I to turn on "overwrite" mode. Place your cursor at the beginning of asia in "asia.battle.net" and type "neonplasma.com". Now place your cursor over the next "Asia" text and Type "NeonPlasma". Save the file.

Step 7: Run Diablo2!
You should be set up now. Run diablo 2 and select your gateway. "NeonPlasma" should show up in the list. Select it, and you should connect to the realm Finally, You will be autoconfigured to connect to NeonPlasma. When your "character selection" box pops up, choose "change realm" in the top-right and select NeonPlasma.

Finally, when you want to connect to Battle.Net again, simply Rename "Diablo II Patch" to "Diablo II Patch 7L" and rename "Diablo II Patch D2X" to "Diablo II Patch". Then, unless you want to connect to asia you're good to go.
